So just to show that i'm not a total tart (getting worked up over Christina Aguilera concert tickets), I will be attending the Royal Shakespeare Company's performance of King Lear starring none other than Gandalf himself, Ian McKellen. This is indeed a rare chance to catch our "gay big sister (or is that "big gay sister") as Singapore is the Company's only stop on their world tour.

First performed 400 years ago, the tragedy of King Lear remains one of the greatest plays in world drama, as Shakespeare investigates old age, mortality, family and man's need for religious belief and the capacity to endure.

On June 30, I will be at Singapore Indoor Stadium jumping up and down among thousands of other teenaged girls singing ".. you are beautiful, in every single way" at the top of my lungs. Ok, so I didn't go see Madonna in Tokyo.. nor did I even have tickets to Kylie's cancelled date in Singapore, BUT shouldn't this count as the next best thing??

why do i have this strange love affair with this 'fragrant' city even though i have never stayed there more than a week or two at a time.
always just passing through.
from Kai Tek to Chek Lap Kok... Causeway Bay to Mei Foo... Central to the New Territories. each visit etches another memory into my subconscious heart. perhaps it's the cacophony of noises, scenes, and odours that appeals to my short attention span. perhaps it's the familiarity of language.

I went on a bit of a shopping spree last nite with my retail partner in crime, zozo. I ended up purchasing two pairs of shades (in preparation for a -- hopefully -- sunny weekend in hong kong), a vneck pullover. Almost bought a cardigan from Ted Baker but resisted in the end. And I thought I'd be doing my shopping in hkg? oops! :P

was in bkk over the weekend.. did not do much but somehow got so tired.. must be the night long dancing and mall walking during the days. I did pick up a little 'souvenir' this time thanks to a friend in bangkok. (see photo)

didn't take many photos this trip as i was scared to get my camera/phone wet.. all i have are some blurry party photos.

i had no expectations for the trip. and it turned out to be full of surprises. last minute i found out norm was going.. yay!.. and then fanny also made it out to bkk on saturday! double yay! and ran into all my thai friend at hilton. even ran into some guys from vancouver.. hahah.. lots of boys from taiwan, hkg, along with all the boys from singapore. hope to see them all again in hkg at end of the month. floatilla perhaps? wow.. april is all about water.

School Daze @ Taboo

I was at Taboo with Stevie and Zo and Bryan and Ethan over the weekend for Taboo's HOT Party.. School Daze theme.. I haven't had a uniform since primary one - the yellow and blue Fairfield Methodist Primary School one ... so i did my best and wore a white shirt and what proved to be a-little-too-formal tie so i ended up looking like an insurance salesman. No matter. We still had a crazy wacky night. :D

updates on me: i just got my EP approved.. will be submitting my passport, old ID card, and piss in a cup sometime this week to get the whole thing settled. I've been approved for 2 years! yaaay.. I'm settling into my new job.. work is busy and stressful at times. Mostly because of the very tight deadlines.

next month I'll be in bangkok for the Thai new year.. Sawadeekrub! time to get soaking wet.

Well ya.. I'm back home.. again.. in winter.. ya.. and.. ya.. it's fruckkin COLD. During this trip, albeit short, I've been hit by Vancouver's glorious precipitation in all it's horrible forms! RAIN, SNOW, and HAIL!

Is this Mama Nature's way of telling me to get the heck out of here.. go back to sunny singapore?

Well at least I was able to go snowboarding. :D

my Mom's here!!!
She arrived this afternoon (amidst heavy rainfall) after a long journey from vancouver > hkg > sin. She's tired but otherwise in good spirits (as usual).

Dad arrives on friday which gives Mom a few days to adjust to time and climate. she's taken my room (cuz it has a queen bed) and i'm in the guest room. We already started the food fest, having buffet dinner (chinese food) at Keppel Club, Kippo Restaurant. so full now. :)

Good news is the rain is here.. clearing up the haze.. stop my coughing.. good thing is that with all my coughing, my abs are getting a great work out.. day AND night.. I guess that's the silver lining.

Thanks zozo for taking me out on the water... after a quick pep talk and watching the pro do it, i was in the water and making a splash. Not too shabby for my first time, I was able to stand up on the board. yipeee. Almost similar to snowboarding except for having to pull on that blasted rope. (gosh my arms hurt today.. not to mention my neck, back, legs, etc. etc. etc. ) But after spending about 30 mins being tugged along - and a few mouthfuls of sea water - I think I've discovered my new favourite sport. It can help satsify my snowboarding craving for now. heeheee

Ok, so i've been back to singapore for about a week now, time for a post. ( still suffering a bit of lag - jetlag and emotional lag... i miss home )

Anyways. looking forward to this weekend as Gabriel & Dresden are spinning at Zouk! While all the handbag gayboys are off in Tokyo grooving to Madonna, I'll be shaking my head to G&D. so good so good!

Hey.. is it just me.. or is there a medical reason why I turn into a big cry baby when I'm watching movies in-flight? And is it weird that I like it!? I make sure I pick some sappy korean movie and at even the opening scene I'd very likely start getting teary-eyed. The King and the Clown was not particularly sad.. but gosh I was sobbing towards the end. I remember watching Finding Nemo with eyes all red from crying. Am I the only one?

Sayonara Vancouver

So I finally overcame my jetlag and therefore not many posts in the last week. And of course, I've adjusted to Vancouver time / climate / food just in time for my departure back to asia.. baah!
Well this time I leave with a weird sense of displacement. Ever feel homeless? And I don't mean not having a roof over your head or a warm bed to sleep in.. When someone asks me where do I consider 'home', I still am not sure how to answer. I guess i'm in transition.. Lost In Transition? :P
Anyway, I'd like to see it from the brighter perspective - that i'm so lucky I have TWO homes.. Singapore and Vancouver. I feel comfortable and happy in either place. (for the most part) My wish would be to merge the two places... of if someone could just create a doorway through which I can just pass through between my two 'homes'.

Well, I had a great 2 weeks here even though I didnt' do very much. I spent time with family and friends and that was all I really aimed to do. It's time again to say bye to my Canadian base and return to the hot, sweaty sin bin.
